Journey Around New York from A to
Z
By Martha Zschock and Heather Zschock
Third in the best-selling "Journey" series
by twin sisters Martha and Heather Zschock, Journey Around New York
From A to Z is the right book at the right time: a dazzling, colorful
child's-eye view of New York City that excites, educates, and enthralls
with dazzling watercolors and fascinating kid-friendly information.
This is much more than an alphabet book: each of the twenty-six pages
explores a New York theme with a catchy alliterative headline (Mammals,
minerals, and meteorites meet at the museum), a paragraph of history,
and an eye-opening factoid.
There is a page on Broadway (Audiences applaud actresses
and actors), Wall Street (Brokers buy and sell billions), Coney Island
(Cyclone carries courageous kids), even the events of September 11,
2001, which cheers the way New Yorkers came together in the wake of
the tragedy (Tough times take teamwork). The streets, the neighborhoods,
the parks, the museums, the parades, the five boroughs&emdash;they're
all here in a family treasure that is sure to become a classic.
Martha Zschock wrote and illustrated the first
two books in the "Journey" series and illustrated Journey Around
New York From A to Z. She is a grade-school teacher from Cape Cod
who developed her first book, Journey Around Cape Cod and the Islands
From A to Z, from field trips with her students. Martha has a sharp
eye for the colorful enticements of a great city like New York or Boston.
Heather Zschock designed the first two books in
the "Journey" series, and wrote and designed Journey Around New
York From A to Z. She is a professional book designer living in
New York City. Because of her remarkable design sense and professional
experience - and her love for her hometown - Heather is the perfect
collaborator for her twin sister, Martha.
